Comprehensive Veterinary Evaluations

Routine veterinary evaluations help identify subtle changes in your animal’s health, mobility, and musculoskeletal function before they become more significant concerns. By detecting issues early, we can develop personalized treatment plans that support healing, improve comfort, and help maintain long-term wellness.

For horses, regular lameness evaluations and wellness assessments can help identify developing issues before they affect performance or everyday comfort. Early detection allows us to recommend the most appropriate integrative therapies, including IVCA-certified veterinary chiropractic careIVAS-certified veterinary acupuncturerehabilitation, laser therapy, diagnostics, and preventive care, based on your animal’s individual needs.

Vaccines

Vaccines are a cornerstone of equine veterinary medicine. Vaccines play a pivotal role in safeguarding the health and longevity of horses by offering protection against a range of infectious diseases., and are essential for preserving the health and vitality of horses. These vaccinations work by activating the horse’s immune system to identify and combat specific pathogens, thereby lowering the risk of serious illnesses or fatalities. Vaccines commonly administered to horses include those for:

  • Eastern equine encephalomyelitis
  • Western equine encephalomyelitis
  • West Nile virus
  • Tetanus
  • Rabies

Implementing a regular vaccination schedule that considers the horse’s age, lifestyle, and risk factors is crucial for maintaining optimal immunity and promoting overall herd health. By ensuring their horses are vaccinated, owners can protect them from avoidable diseases, enhancing their lifespan and quality of life.

EIA Testing (Coggins)

We focus on EIA testing, also known as the Coggins test, after giving vaccines. This test is key for controlling Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA). It’s required for horses traveling between states or going to events.

We use Global Vet Link (GVL) to do this test quickly and accurately. Since horses might not show they are sick until 45 days after getting infected, testing often is important. We keep a close eye on EIA because biting insects can spread it. Adding reliable tests like Coggins to our care plan helps us protect every horse we look after. Our job isn’t just about treating sickness; it’s also teaching owners about the risks of EIAV and pushing for actions to prevent it in North Central Texas where these dangers are higher.

Through this work, we help our patients and contribute to larger efforts to keep equine communities healthy and strong.

Health certificates

For safe interstate travel, a Certificate of Veterinarian Inspection (CVI) is necessary. In various states, CVIs must be issued within 30 days of entry, so it’s important to be aware of the regulations prior to transporting your horses. Also, constantly monitor your horses for signs of illness while on the road to maintain their well-being and safety.

Diagnostic services

We provide specialized diagnostic services for horses and dogs, including digital radiography, ultrasonography, and access to a reference laboratory for bloodwork and fecals. Our goal is to quickly and accurately diagnose issues to improve the health and performance of your pets.

Digital radiography

Our advanced digital radiography technology captures highly detailed images that reveal even the smallest issues unseen on traditional x-rays. This cutting-edge technology equips us to accurately diagnose and address your horse’s health concerns with precision and effectiveness.

By utilizing digital radiography for your horse, we can uncover underlying problems at a level of detail not possible through traditional imaging methods. The clarity and accuracy of these images underpin our ability to provide tailored care that enhances your horse’s well-being while addressing any potential complexities in their health.

Ultrasonography

Ultrasonography, a non-invasive diagnostic tool, is practical and cost-effective. This imaging technology aids in comprehensive assessments to ensure accurate diagnosis of conditions affecting horses.

Reference laboratory for bloodwork and fecals

We offer equine veterinary services with access to a state-of-the-art laboratory for bloodwork and fecal testing, ensuring thorough diagnostic evaluations for your horses. With fast PCR tests, we can provide detailed results promptly to tailor personalized care plans for your horses’ well-being and performance.

Our partnership with our reference lab allows us instant access to crucial health information from anywhere, reinforcing our dedication to leveraging advanced technology in providing expert care.
